Terms of Use

Last updated

These terms apply to your use of the Hamza app and this website, provided by Taqib Ibrahim (“we”, “us”, and “our”). By using Hamza or the website, you agree to these terms.

What Hamza does

Hamza is a macOS app that displays calculated salah times and provides menu-bar information, visual reminders, and optional macOS notifications. The current app requires macOS 26 or later.

You choose a location and calculation settings, and Hamza calculates prayer times on your Mac. Some location features rely on Apple Maps and macOS Location Services. Their availability is controlled by Apple and your device settings.

Prayer times and reminders

Calculated prayer times depend on your saved location, time zone, calculation method, Asr calculation choice, high-latitude setting, and device clock. Different methods and local practices can produce different times. If you travel, check that your saved location and settings are still appropriate.

Hamza is a practical reminder tool. It does not provide a religious ruling or guarantee that its calculated times match your mosque’s schedule, congregation times, or local moon-sighting decisions. Check the displayed times against a trusted local source when accuracy matters to you.

Visual reminders require Hamza to be running. macOS handles notifications that Hamza has already scheduled, including when the app is closed. Delivery depends on your Mac’s state, notification permissions, and macOS settings such as Focus. A notification or visual reminder may be delayed, suppressed, or missed. Hamza cannot guarantee delivery of every reminder.

Using Hamza

You may use Hamza for its intended purpose. You are responsible for selecting suitable settings, keeping your device clock correct, and managing the app’s permissions.

Use the app and website lawfully. Do not interfere with the website’s operation, attempt unauthorized access, or use it to distribute malware or harm others.

You can stop using Hamza at any time. The Privacy Policy explains how to reset local preferences and manage permissions before removing the app.

Software, content, and third-party services

Rights in Hamza’s original software, name, branding, and website content remain with their respective owners. These terms do not transfer ownership of those materials.

Third-party components and services remain subject to their own licenses and terms. Any rights granted to you under a separate applicable software license continue to apply; these terms do not remove those rights.

External websites and Apple services are operated by their respective providers. We do not control their availability, content, or policies. Read the Privacy Policy for details about the services Hamza uses.

Availability and changes

Hamza’s features, system requirements, and website content may change as the app develops. We do not promise that every feature will remain available indefinitely or that updates and support will be provided on a particular schedule.

Warranties and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Hamza and this website are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that they will always be accurate, uninterrupted, or free of errors, or that they will meet every user’s requirements.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, Hamza or this website.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or removes rights you have under applicable consumer law.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as Hamza or this website changes. Revised terms will be published here with an updated date. Any changes apply subject to the rights and requirements of applicable law.
